August Update 2010
Dear Friends,
I have just returned from two weeks in Guatemala. There were two different teams that joined me. The first team was from Christ the King Church, St. Louis, MO and Wings of Life Ministries, Mobile, AL. They ministered to children and also served the homeless at The Lord’s Kitchen. What a great time we had. One night after a service, I felt two arms around me. I was momentarily surprised, but turned to see one of the Mayan women weeping and saying, “Thank you, Thank you”. Those are moving moments and help you to see that is important to touch even one person with the love of Jesus. The other team was from Starkville, MS. It consisted of four father/son teams and several young men that joined us. Both teams also worked on the home of one of the families in the church that lost their home in a mud slide. The home is just two rooms and a front porch. Every shovel full of dirt taken from the house had to be taken 400 steps down a steep hill and dumped. Then bags of rock, sand and cement had to be taken up the hill. It was difficult work, but we were able to make some good time and be a blessing to this family. I believe that enough money was given for them to finish the house. The Guatemalans go up and down that hill every day. It is amazing.
Things are going well with preparations to help Enrique and Charlyn Mejia in Costa Rica with finishing the home for children who have no family. We hope to see many teams go down in the next year and work with laying block and building the roof. If you can help, please let me know. I have several teams lined up already and more are asking to be a part.
The Lord is moving! While there are some bad reports and difficulties in many places, God is touching people with His love. There is a fresh hunger for an encounter with a living God. Let us seek to find people that God is speaking to and share His love with them.
Please keep our upcoming trips in your prayers. I leave for Morelia, Mexico on August 25. I will speak 8 times in 5 days. Filadelphia Church is a growing church that is touching that city for the Kingdom. I travel to Kenya on September 22 with Dwayne Higgason. We will attend the dedication of the LeRoy Curtis Training Center in Kitale which we helped build, and then share at two business seminars and one pastors conference. I am still in need of $1500 for that trip.
